"The church is not a building, but a community of imperfect people who are being transformed by God's grace."

Unknown

Our Story

In November of 1996, four couples sat around a dining room table sharing a vision that God had laid on each of their hearts.  The vision was for a place people could come as they were to praise and worship, a place where the whole Bible was taught, and a place to find God.  It was also essential to create a place for the hurting to come and find rest.  One of the most important parts of the vision was to make it a safe and fun place for children to come and for teenagers to hangout.

The search for a building ended when an empty sale barn was found.  Over the next 6 weeks, untold hours were spent cleaning, painting and remodeling the building.  Every spare moment, spare dollar and spare favor owed was used to get things ready for the first service that was held on January 12, 1997.  From four families around a table, we had 43 people in service that cold January day.

Seven years later, Open Bible Praise Center purchased land on Hwy 87 and began the process of building the 30,000 square foot facility you see today.  Done in phases, services were first held in what now is the gymnasium while the remaining areas were completed.  What you see is not the end of a huge building contract but instead the blood sweat and tears of many talented carpenters, electricians, plumbers and volunteers that donated their time and their hard work to Kingdom work.  No words can express the gratitude due these individuals.

As our building and ministries grew, our name shortened.  Though we are still affiliated with the Open Bible Churches, we are known in the community and by our congregation as The Praise Center.

Mission

At the Praise Center it's our desire to show through our lives our love for God, people and for serving one another.

According to Matthew 22:37-40:

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. ‘This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

We Believe

We Believe

We Believe

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Open Bible Praise Center is a part of Open Bible Churches.

Why Life Groups you ask?

  • To help people to connect in biblical community that helps them become more like Jesus in every area of their lives.
  • In a Life Group you can get close enough to know each other, to care and share, to challenge and support, to confide and confess, to forgive and be forgiven, to laugh and weep together, to be accountable to each other, to watch over each other and to grow together.
  • Personal growth does not happen in isolation. It is the result of interactive relationships.  Life Groups are God’s gift to foster changes in character and spiritual growth.
  • God never intended for us to live the Christian life alone. God calls us to love, not in an abstract or superficial way, but in a deep, face to face, life-on-life, transformative way—which can be difficult and inevitably messy.

MVP - Mission Venture Plan

The need to reach people for Christ globally and in the United States, to disciple and develop leaders, and plant churches has never been greater. The time to do so before Christ’s return is shorter! However, our American culture has changed. People today want to give to people instead of just to programs. They want freedom to give as they desire and to do so easily. MVP connects you with faces – real people instead of just programs – and is convenient.
